FAQs

Daycare Fees and Other Costs:

How much will I be charged for childcare per week?

Adventures At Home Daycare's weekly fee remains at $125/week per child for all full-time contracted children.

How much is drop-in care?

Drop-in care is handled at an hourly rate of $5/hr per child.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes. A one-time registration fee of $10 will be added to your very first weekly total. This fee is in place to cover all initial registration paperwork, processing, and other materials.

Is there a fee for late pick-up?

Yes. Starting at 05:30 p.m., you will have a 5 minute grace period for a late pick-up. Should you fail to pick-up your child within that grace period, a late fee of $1/minute per child will be applied to that day and will be due at the time of pick-up. No exceptions!

Is there a fee for late payment?

Yes. All weekly fees are always due on Monday morning with the arrival of your child, or on the first day of the week that your child will regularly attend daycare. Please have a check or cash ready at drop-off. You will receive your receipt at this time as well. A charge of $5/day per child will be assessed for all late payments. No exceptions!

I can't afford daycare this week. Can we make some other arrangement?

Being a small business doesn't give me much leeway to make other arrangements or deals with you. I do my best to always treat parents fairly and give one family the same benefits and respect I give to another. If I offered my services to you at a lower rate, I would have to do the same for all the other families whose children are in my care. Unfortunately, that would make it very hard for me to continue to provide a quality program for your child. Therefore, my specified rates are non-negotiable.

Daycare Hours:

What types of childcare hours will be available?

Adventures At Home Daycare is primarily registering children for full-time care at this time. Drop-in care will be available at the hourly rate for school-ages and preschoolers, as needed.

What hours does full-time care include?

My full-time preschool program will run from Monday to Friday, 05:30 a.m. (earliest drop-off time) to 05:30 p.m. (latest pick-up time).

Can I drop off/pick up my child at any time during these hours?

Upon registration, you will need to provide me with a written schedule that includes daily drop-off and pick-up times. I encourage you to stick as closely as possible to this schedule, so that I will know when to expect your child each day and what time she will be leaving. I will understand if your daily times may vary slightly, depending on weather, traffic, or other unpredictable events, however, please notify me in advance if your drop-off/pick-up times ever change significantly (1 hour or more).

If your hours are from 05:30 a.m. to 05:30 p.m., will I be able to leave my child with you for these 12 hours per day and 5 days per week?

Technically, yes. The full-time contract does cover you for these specified times. HOWEVER, I only recommend using all full 12 hours per day for each day of the week in emergency situations or if your work schedule truly requires extended periods of travel due to distance or inclement weather. The reason: While I enjoy the company of each and every child in my care, our days tend to get very long and may become overwhelming to your child. Imagine yourself in your child's shoes: Waking up early, leaving her parents behind to stay in an out-of-home setting by herself for a full day, going home late, going to bed, and then doing it over the next day. While I ensure that all children have a happy, exciting, and fulfilling day, many children tend to grow anxious, frustrated, or sensitive when their time in care exceeds 9 or 10 hours per day. I highly encourage spending all the quality time you can fit in with your little one! And your child will thank you by being a much happier camper during pick up time.

May I stop by to visit my child at any time of the day?

You may visit on a case-by-case basis, but please remember to notify me in advance if you plan on stopping by early or picking your child up before the contracted end time. We will be active in the lower level of my home and may not always be able to hear you at the door if we are not expecting you at an earlier time. In addition, I try to minimize daily disruptions as much as possible so that we will be able to follow our daily schedule very closely.

Why are you only accepting full-time applications?

From past experience, I have learned that having an effective, predictable daily schedule in place will not only help young children adjust better to an out-of-home setting but also allows them to become more efficient, independent learners. In order to follow our clearly outlined daily schedule and ensure that all children will benefit equally from curricular activities and everyday skills practiced, I have decided to create a more uniform program. This overhauled program is mainly intended to minimize daily disruptions and to include children of similar ages, with roughly similar arrival and pick-up times.

Closures:

On which holidays will Adventures At Home Daycare be closed?

My doors will remain closed on all federal holidays, including New Year, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Should a major holiday (Christmas or New Year) fall on a Sunday, I will take Monday off.

How many unpaid vacation days will my child receive during year?

Fulltime enrolled children are able to take up to fifteen (15) unpaid vacation days during the calendar year. If you are planning a vacation, please notify me at least two weeks in advance.

How many paid vacation days to you reserve?

Just like your child, I plan to reserve up to fifteen (15) vacation days (business days; excluding holidays) of paid vacation time each year. I will notify you of the dates at least two weeks ahead of time so that you can arrange for alternate care. You will be required to pay the normal rate for these vacation days to retain your child's space in my child care. Unless emergency travel is required, I do not anticipate taking longer than one week at a time off. I am also usually planning only two full vacation weeks during the year and am reserving the remaining vacation days for single day events, as needed.

Do I pay for your vacation days if my child's vacation will be at the same time?

If your child's vacation days coincide with mine, there will be no charge for those days.

Do you transfer unused vacation days?

Yes. Any unused vacation days remaining from the previous year will be transferable to the following year and available for use until April 30 of that year (for both parties).

Do you reserve any personal days?

I do reserve a maximum of five (5) personal days per calendar year. However, these days will be unpaid. I will give you as much notice as possible if I need to utilize a personal day. Your weekly rate will be prorated for that week so that you will not pay for my personal days off. If I need to take a personal day on short notice for any reason, I will prorate the rate of the following week.

Child Illnesses and Absences:

How many sick days will my child receive?

Your child will receive three (3) sick days per calendar year for which you will not be required to pay. If your child experiences any of the symptoms listed in the sick child policy (find it in the For Parents section), please notify me in advance (prior to the 5:30 a.m. starting time) either in writing by text or email so that I will know that you will be utilizing one of your child's sick days. This is important! If you do not provide prior notice of the absence, you will be charged for the missed day(s) of care.

Do you reserve sick days as well?

Yes. Like your child, I reserve three (3) paid sick days per calendar year during which the regular weekly fees will not be reimbursable.

What will happen if my child gets sick in daycare?

If your child becomes ill during child care hours, I will notify you immediately. I will expect you to pick up your child as soon as possible if he/she is vomiting, has unexplained diarrhea or an unexplained rash, or has a body temperature of 100.4 F. Please remember that your child must remain at home for at least 24 hours if he/she has a fever of 100.4 or higher, and the fever must lower without use of fever-reducing medication.

If you are unsure about whether you should bring your child to daycare, please contact me first.

What do I do if my child has been exposed to an infectious disease?

Please inform me immediately if you become aware that your child has been exposed to a specific infectious disease so that I may alert the families of other children in my program.
